How To Change Your Battery

Your Smart Tag is designed to work hard every day to help keep your pet safe.

Because it packs a lot of helpful features into one small tag, the battery will need replacing from time to time. How often you’ll need to change it depends on how you use the tag. For example, using the ‘Make Sound’ feature daily will shorten battery life.

The good news? Changing the battery is quick and simple! Just follow the steps below.

How To Guide

Here's a little video to walk you through a couple of steps required to change your smart tag battery.

Step 1: Purchase CR2032 Batteries

This is a common type of battery, so can be purchased at your local supermarket. It's called a button battery - best to purchase a couple, then you are all set next time you need to change.

Step 2: Open with battery replacement key

Slot the key horizontally in to the edge of the smart tag and turn clockwise. This will prompt the smart tag to open.

Step 3: Replace old battery with new one

Safely remove the old battery and dispose correctly.*. Slot new battery in to position, and squeeze Smart Tag back together.

Safe Battery Disposal

Button batteries can be dangerous if swallowed, so please handle and dispose of them with care.

Keep old and new batteries out of reach of children and pets at all times.

Tape the terminals of your batteries to prevent risk of fire.

Place in a glass container.

Take used batteries to a designated recycling point - many supermarkets, libraries, and council facilities have free battery recycling bins.

To find your nearest drop-off location, visit bcycle.com.au - the official national recycling scheme for batteries.

If you suspect a child has swallowed or inserted a battery, call the Poisons Information Centre immediately on 13 11 26 (available 24/7) and seek urgent medical attention.
